About Learn Igbo Now
Ndeewo! Hello! My name is Yvonne Chioma Mbanefo. Back in 2011, I had a simple mission.. to revolutionize Igbo language learning, and to make Igbo language more accessible and more fun for anyone that wanted to learn Igbo as a Second Language (ISL).
Using my I.T , Information design and education skills, I set out to create little videos on youtube that would teach the Igbo language to anyone around the world. With time, my little midnight hobby evolved into a bestselling children’s dictionary, International annual conference, audiovisual language learning products and so on.
Learn Igbo Now offers various resources to anyone who is learning or teaching Igbo as a foreign or second language.
The main medium we use to teach Igbo language is storytelling, with Comprehensible input as a language acquisition method. Storytelling is an ancient form of communication and people of all ages love stories. Because of it’s mental, social and educational benefits, Stories are a proven method of language acquisition. The stories used in our lessons are mostly about everyday life.
I speak and write Igbo language to a native speaker level. This knowledge, coupled with a deep interest in Igbo culture, has given me the fuel to learn and share awesome information about Igbo land and its language. I hope you’ll join me for the ride.
